If you want to get apps, games, movies, TV Shows and books on your Android device, Google Opinion Rewards can help you earn free Google Play money. The amount you earn may not be much, but it’s still worth it to sign up for the app.
What Is Google Opinion Rewards?
Google Opinion Rewards is a mobile app where you can earn Google Play money (Android) or PayPal money (iOS) for completing surveys. It’s an in-house research tool Google created to help with market research. Google uses this information to make better products and gain insights into its customer base. Yes, your answers are anonymous unless stated at the beginning of the survey.
How Does It Work?
Google will notify you when there is an available survey. As a note, it’s best to answer surveys right away since they expire within 24 hours. Unlike other apps, the amount you earn is displayed after completing the survey. Typically, the amount earned is less than $1, mostly a few cents. However, most surveys won’t last more than a minute.
Unfortunately, there are a limited number of surveys available. Topics include everything from opinion polls, to hotel reviews, to your thoughts on YouTube videos. Mostly, the surveys come from your interactions with Google. This includes shopping trips, places you’ve visited and more. For example, if you go to CVS and buy something, you may receive a survey asking you to upload a receipt of your purchase. If you want to receive more surveys, you’ll need to get out of the house more.
How Do I Earn?
You won’t earn a ton of money with surveys on Google Opinion Rewards. In the past four years, I’ve cashed out about $300. To increase your chances of receiving a survey, the app will need access to your location data. This location data is generally used to help the company improve Google Maps. The more locations your phone checks in with, the more surveys you will receive. Regularly shopping at well known stores will increase your chances as well.
Some questions for shopping trips include?
- Which of the following places have you recently visited?
- When was the last time you visited ___?
- Did you make a purchase at ___?
- Which form of payment did you use (credit, debit, etc.)?
- Do you have the receipt?
- Are you willing to upload the receipt.
This is just one example of the questions you’ll get in a survey. Make sure your notifications for the app are enabled, since you only have 24 hours to complete them. You may not get questions everyday, so having notifications turned on can help you to not miss an opportunity.
It is worth mentioning that typically most people earn more during Christmas because they are shopping more. So if you want to generate Play Store credits, make you have the app installed and updated.
Periodically, you may receive videos to watch and rate. These videos are very short and only have about 2-3 questions. Mostly, these are YouTube clips that Google uses to gauge your interest. This way they can getter tailor YouTube videos for you based on your interests.
How Does Google Opinion Rewards Pay?
For Android users, each time you complete a survey, the amount you earn is immediately available to use. Even if you have 17 cents in your account, you can apply that amount to your Play Store purchase. For iOS users, you must accumulate at least $2 to cash out to PayPal.
Credits expire one year after you’ve earned them. The best part, the app displays the date when part of your balance expires so you don’t miss out. Unfortunately for iOS users, your credits may expire before you hit the $2 withdrawal minimum.

How Can I Get Started With Google Opinion Rewards?
To get started with Google Opinion Rewards, you must first download the free app and agree to the terms of service. Next, you’ll need to verify your payment preference. For iOS users, you can choose either Google Play credits or PayPal. For Android users, the only option is Google Play credits.
If you choose Google Play credits, be sure to sign up with the same email address as your Google payment profile. This is the same if you choose PayPal. Your Google Opinions Rewards email address must match your PayPal address. Then answer basic demographic questions and wait for a survey.
Final Thoughts…
If you regularly make purchases on Google Play such as apps, games, TV shows, music, etc., it’s great. The surveys are short and you can use the money immediately (Android users). However, the opportunity to complete a survey is limited and you make very little per survey.
